nevertheless,wheniopenedthewindowonemorning,tomyamazement,thetreewasalmostbarebeyondrecognitionasaresultofthestormravagesthenightbefore.struckbytheplight,iwasseizedwithasadnessatthethought“alltheblossomisdoomedtofall”.icouldnothelpsighingwithemotion:thecourseoflifeneverrunssmooth,fortherearesomanyupsanddowns,twistsandturns.thevicissitudesofmylifesawmybelovedfriendspartingoneafteranother.isn’titsimilartothetreesheddingitsflowersinthewind? 

thiseventfadedfrommymemoryastimewentby.onedayaftericamehomefromthecountryside,ifoundtheroomstuffyandcasuallyopenedthewindow.somethingoutsidecaughtmyeyeanddazzledme.itwasaplumtreeallscarletwithblossomsetoffbeautifullybythesunset.thesurprisediscoveryoverwhelmedmewithpleasure.iwonderedwhyihadnoideaofsomeunyieldinglifesproutingoverthefallenpetalswheniwasgrievingforthehibiscus.
