MyfavouritecityisSeoul.SeoulisthecapitalofSouthKoreaandislocatedontheHanRiverinthecountry'snorthwest.Thecityissituatedabout50km(~30mi)southoftheNorthKoreanborder,alsoknownasthede-militarizedzone(DMZ).Seoulisacitywithancienthistory,theareaofSeoulappearsinhistoryasearlyas18BCE,whenthekingdomofBaekjefoundeditscapital,Wiryeseong,inwhatisnowsoutheasternSeoul.ModernSeouldescendsfromacitycalledNamgyeong,builtduringtheGoryeoera,whichthenbecamethecapitaloftheJoseondynastyin1394.SeoulhasbeenthecapitalofsuccessiveKoreannationseversince.[2]DesignatedthestatusofaSpecialCity,Seoulisadministereddirectlybythenationalgovernment.
