Thetempoofmoderncivilizationhasbeenmuchquickenedinthelasttwentyyears.Whilewitnessingthedramaticchangesinthebetter-offsociety,peoplebegintoreconsiderthequestionof"survival"."Survival"intheoldsensedoesnotbotherusanymore.Instead,wearemoreconcernedabouthowto"survive"inthehumanworldfullofcompetition.

Competitionalwayscarriesabreastchallengesandopportunitiestoeveryoneinvolved.Itmightappearinanentranceexam,inaregularclass,orinasmallpublicspeech.Thosewhofailtodetectitsrealnature-whetheranopportunityorachallengeacompetitionreallyis-willlosesomethingmoreorlessconducivetoourgrowth.Ofcourse,ifwetakethecompetitionasanopportunity,wewillfavoritintentionallybecausetheycanhelpusoutstandfromtheaverage;theywillmakeusbecomethefocusofpublicattention;theywillgrantusmorechancesandrightstosucceed.Asamatteroffact,opportunitiesaresupposedtobemoreperceptibleandwelcomingthanchallenges.Thetruthis,however,wewilllosemoreopportunitieswhenwechoosetotakethe"opportunity"forkatthecrossroads.Theotherfork,ignoredbyusanddefinedas"fearfulchallenges",offersmuchmorechancesforthewalkerincompetition.

Wehavesuchaninclinationinlifetooverestimateourselvesandholdathoughtlessattitudetowardsthenegativeoutlookofthings.

Webelieveintheoldsaying,"Opportunityknocksbutjustonce,"sowealwayswelcomeitanddevoteallourspiritandeffortstoit.Themostdevoutbelieverofthissayingarethegraduates.Why?Therearequiteanumberofthemwhopayfullattentiontopositionsinbigcitiesandarewillingtofloodintodevelopedareasunderanycircumstances,eventhoughtherewillbetoomuchuncertaintyfortheirchoices.Innumerablecasesgostraighttothesamemiserableend:GodseemstorefusetohelptoomanyofHisworshipers.

Inconclusion,todefinethequalityofcompetitionseemstobefarfromvaluablesense,fornomatterwhatacompetitionis,anopportunityorachallenge,itwillcreatenutritiouselementsforourgrowth.

Sotakeapositivelookateverythingaround.Keepourfacetothesunshine,andwewillnotseetheshadows.
